Meet Your Transformations Leadership Team

Brian Wheelan
Chief Executive Officer

Brian is an energetic leader, a passionate advocate and an expert in organizing complex systems of care in order to create access to mental health for EVERYONE.

As a former Medicaid administrator and former president of the nation’s largest behavioral health payer, Brian knows first-hand what is not working well enough in our mental health system. Fixing those problems requires a relentless focus on making the experience of mental healthcare better for all involved – making it easier to access care whether face-to-face or virtually, enabling our clinicians to thrive by supporting them with the tools, technology, and training, and making the lives of our clients and patients better by ensuring that the services they receive from Transformations are evidence-based, high-quality, and measurably working. It’s a bold vision that must succeed for the sake of the communities in which we live – ALL Communities.

Brian is a native of Illinois but lives today in Boston with his wife Brooke and three children Grace, Paige and Grant.

Ryan Wakim
Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Ryan Wakim is a board-certified psychiatrist and entrepreneur, driven early in his career to expand access to life-changing behavioral healthcare with a passion for and expertise in the subspecialty of interventional psychiatry. The use of Psychedelics such as Ketamine, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, and EEG-driven treatment planning are but a few examples.

He obtained his medical degree from West Virginia University where he also completed his residency training, finishing as chief resident in 2014. Dr. Wakim Co-Founded and served as the CEO of an innovative, wellness-informed, multistate healthcare system, Transformations, until a successful merger with Shore Capital’s outpatient mental health platform in May of 2021.

He now sits as the acting Chief Medical Officer of the Transformations Care Network with a key role in developing strategic clinical and growth-oriented initiatives with a renewed purpose of changing the standard and stigma of behavioral healthcare, generationally.

Dr. Wakim along with his wife (Liza) enjoys exercising, golfing, traveling, and time well spent in the presence of those near and dear to their hearts, most especially their two dogs (Lulu and Rayna).

Mark Heit
Chief Growth Officer

As Chief Growth Officer, Mark is responsible for expanding Transformations’ footprint and enhancing the organization’s ability to reach more clients requiring mental health support. Mark has spent the past 20 years working to expand access to care.

Prior to joining Transformations, he was a leader at Beacon Health Options, ultimately ending his tenure as Market President, where he partnered with government agencies and healthcare payers to implement programs and services that make mental health and substance use treatment more readily available. Both personally and professionally, Mark has seen the impact that untreated mental illness has on individuals, families (including his own), and the entire community.  He has committed his career to collaborating with stakeholders throughout the healthcare system to reduce human suffering and increase resources for behavioral healthcare.

Mark lives in San Francisco with his wife (Danielle), daughter (Cassidy), and their beloved dog (Wrigley, otherwise known as Bubba or at least fifteen other names). He spends his free time in the kitchen or enjoying live music with lifelong friends.

Maggie Tapp
Chief Operating Officer

Maggie is setting a new standard for making it easy for people to receive high quality mental health care and is committed to building an environment where providers have the tools they need to be the best clinicians possible.

As Chief Operating Officer she is responsible for managing the overall operations, clinical outcomes and service delivery for our clinics across the country. Maggie joined TCN from Beacon Health Options where she held a variety of roles including Chief Operating Officer. She is a licensed clinical social worker with an extensive background in community and disaster mental health, and has a passion for treating children/adolescents and women experiencing perinatal mood disorders. She was responsible for leading the disaster mental health response on the ground in New York City following the 9/11 attacks and for building the national long term recovery plan for the American Red Cross which provided a portable mental health benefit for survivors, family members and rescue and recovery workers.

Maggie lives in Charlotte, NC with her husband Kevin, and two (almost adult) children, Maddox and Avery.

Yvonne Chung

Yvonne is proud to be part of a team that is as energetic, driven, and passionate about improving healthcare as the Transformations Care Network team.  She believes that everyone should have access to high quality healthcare, and that is what has motivated her career.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS ARE SAYING

“I was hoping to at least shake the dark cloud a little bit and have a couple of days without feeling so down. But to my surprise, those days are gone. Absolutely gone.”
